Helping SMEs in Uganda to Survive the COVID-19 Crisis & Unlock New Opportunities at Sankalp 2020

The UGEFA Team with Finding XY (SEED Uganda Hub) joined the Sankalp Online Dialogue “Helping SMEs In Uganda Survive the COVID-19 Crisis & Unlock New Opportunities” on 16 June 2020. The focus of this webinar was to help SMEs in Uganda move past the COVID-19 crisis, figure out what business changes they need to make, as well as determine financing options for their businesses. Speakers included Franc Kamugyisha from EcoPlastile, Christine Meyer from UGEFA, Edirisa Sembatya from Finding XY (and UGEFA), Phil Walton from ICCO, and George Murage from Intellecap (Sankalp).

During the session, interesting insights were shared how the crisis affects SMEs, what measures can be taken to pivot the business model accordingly and how financing and capacity building can support SMEs to build resilience. Furthermore, the webinar focussed on key financing needs of SMEs resulting from the economic crisis, which the COVID-19 pandemic caused.
